Caring For Your Diamonds

Of course diamonds are the toughest known substance on earth. The fact that diamonds are strong and tough does not mean that they can not be destroyed or worn out. Even the toughest of car models may one day end at the car breaker! Diamonds can be scratched or chipped diminishing their beauty and appearance. Thus it is very important that one learns and knows how to clean and care for their precious diamond ring or jewelry.
The following guidelines can help your diamond stay in shape for life.

• Just as iron sharpens iron, a diamond can scratch another diamond. This suggests that when you keep or store them - it is encouraged not to keep them together as it will wear each other out. It is good advice to keep them separately. If keeping the jewelry separated is inevitable, then it is recommended that each diamond item is safely wrapped say in a cloth to avoid wear and tear to each other. The best and recommended storage is in a fabric lined jewel case or a box with compartments or divisions.

• Wearing diamond whilst doing heavy work or operating heavy machinery is not encouraged.

• Certain chemicals like chlorine or some bleach may discolour the mounting on our precious jewelry. Contact with these should be avoided at all cost since they can gradually deface your diamonds.

• Clean your jewelry regularly with warm soapy water and a soft brush (not one with very hard bristles that can scratch them. Remember to dry them after cleaning, and keep them dry. When cleaning your diamonds in a sink, remember to put a stopper or you may pick your diamonds at the sewer-if you are lucky!

• You can consider taking your diamond jewelry to a jeweler every 4 to 6 months to have it cleaned professionally or checked for wear and tear. Also you should not consider buying cheap jewelry for sale in any shop because you may purchase a counterfeit.

• Avoid rubbing your jeweled parts of the body on rough surfaces like metal and others.

• I am sure you do not want to lose your diamonds in any way. Keep them in a safe lockable place in case they get stolen. You should have seen a number of diamond thieves in movies on TV.

• You can consider visiting an insurance company, and get your stones insured, for compensation if they get lost or stolen. You will realize the worthy the day you lose
